World at War features a more mature theme than previousinstallments in the series. Swimming is introduced to the series. Whilein water, the player cannot sprint and can only move at half speed. Flamethrowers, introduced in Call of Duty: United Offensive,appear alongside flammable environments. Vehicles (i.e. Tanks) are alsoreintroduced in this edition of Call of Duty. The game is moreopen-ended than previous games in the series, as there are multipleways to complete objectives.
