The story begins with Spider-Man defending Mary Jane Watson against Venom.In the middle of Midtown Spider-Man becomes locked in a death-embracewith Brock. At that very moment Brock precedes to crush Parker with hisbare hands, the symbiotic costume of Venom reacts to Spidey. A part ofthe symbiotebinds to itself to Parker, and Spider-Man continues the fight. Withsymbiotic power once more flowing through his veins, Parker defeatsBrock but loses him. MJ is rushed to the hospital.

While MJ recovers, Spidey joins up with fellow Avenger Luke Cagein the war against gangs. When Cage finally sets up a truce between thetwo gangs, the meeting spot is attacked by heavily armed mercenaries.Spider-Man traces the attackers to Wilson Fisk Industries, home of theinfamous Kingpin. When attempting to confront Fisk, Spidey runs into the Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat.Assuming she is working for the Kingpin, Spidey chases her down andconfronts her. Hardy claims that she was trying to infiltrate Fisk'shi-tech heist operation. Parker investigates himself and foils Kingpinsattack on the city. Spider-Man traces the manufacturer of Kingpin'sarmor to Adrian Toomes, the Vulture. Spidey defeats the Vulture in a mid-air battle and proceeds to finally end the heist
