Wario Land: Shake It! stars Wario, the smelly, bad-mannered alter ego of Mario. With the Wii Remotecontroller turned sideways like an old-school controller, veterans andnewcomers alike can run, jump and smash their way through hecticside-scrolling stages. Players shake the Wii Remote to help Wario takedown his enemies, empty bags of treasure or cause earthquakes. Best ofall, there are numerous stages each offering multiple missions to keepplayers coming back again and again to unlock everything, collect morecoins or just improve their best times.
Wario Land: The Shake Dimension's gameplay style is very similar to that of Wario Land 4.Yuretopia is split into five continents. Each continent holds sixstages (4 standard, 2 hidden) and a boss. It is Wario's duty tocomplete the stages and defeat the boss at the end of the continent. Most stages have secret passages and each contains three treasurechests and several sub-missions such as gathering so many coins.Wario's main goal is to free Merfle, a small character who is trappedin every stage. Once Wario has collected him, he must back trackthrough the stage in a limited time (this is not applicable inSubwarine levels).
The main way to progress through the game is to collect as muchtreasure as possible, generally done by finding sacks of money andshaking the coins out of it. He can also shake stunned enemies to gethealth recovery items. When enough money is collected, Wario canpurchase maps to unlock new levels, potions to recover his health andlife vessels to extend his maximum health. Wario has a variety of movesranging from his trademark shoulder charge to a butt stomp. By shakingthe Wii Remote he can perform a punch that stuns on-screen enemies andraises certain obstacles. When running into a stunned enemy, he caneither shake it to receive items or throw it by aiming with the WiiRemote. Some areas leading to hidden treasure are only accessible byusing methods presented on the race back to the start, like using theMax Fastotity Dasherator to break through metal barriers and cross longgaps.
